This photograph shows the Viceroy’s Palace in Tiflis, one of the most significant administrative buildings of the Russian Imperial period in the Caucasus. The palace served as the residence and administrative headquarters of the Viceroy of the Caucasus, the highest representative of the imperial government in the region.

The photograph was taken in 1863 by David Korganov and depicts the neoclassical palace building with its monumental colonnaded façade, situated within the landscape of Tiflis with hills and mountains visible in the background.

Images such as this provide valuable visual documentation of the architectural and political landscape of Tiflis during the nineteenth century.
