Meidan Mosque on the Mtkvari River, Tbilisi

Historic view of the Meidan Mosque and surrounding riverside buildings along the Mtkvari River in Old Tbilisi.

The Meidan Mosque and riverfront buildings in the historic Meidan district of Tbilisi.

This photograph shows the historic Meidan district of Tbilisi along the Mtkvari River. The Meidan Mosque is visible in the foreground, surrounded by traditional riverfront structures, while the densely built hillside of Old Tbilisi rises behind it.

Although Georgia has historically been a predominantly Orthodox Christian country, mosques, synagogues, and churches coexisted within the city. The presence of the Meidan Mosque in the center of Tbilisi reflects the long-standing multicultural and religious diversity of the city.
