The Joseph Grishashvili Collection preserves unique photographs dating mainly from the 19th and 20th centuries, including works by well-known photographers. The images document major historical moments and cultural life, and include portraits of notable figures as well as scenes of everyday urban life. A significant part of the collection depicts old Tbilisi—its culture and social types—such as craftsmen, karachoghelis, kintos, musicians, butchers, and fighters. Grishashvili assembled this collection over the course of his life alongside other historical materials (posters, playbills, music, and books), creating a valuable resource for researchers.
