This photograph shows members of the Tiflis Society of Amateur Photographers, founded in 1893 in Tiflis (modern Tbilisi). The society united local photography enthusiasts—many from educated and aristocratic circles—who studied photographic techniques and organized practical sessions and exhibitions.

The group is depicted outdoors in front of a building, arranged in several rows. The photograph illustrates the social and cultural environment of amateur photographic circles in late-19th-century Tiflis, when photography was rapidly becoming more accessible and widely practiced.
