This featured project presents documentary photographs capturing pivotal public events in Georgian history — from imperial-era proclamations and the Emancipation Manifesto of 1864, to the independence gatherings of 1918 and large-scale Soviet-era civic ceremonies.
Rather than focusing on individual portraiture, this project highlights moments of collective experience — when political decisions entered public space, when reforms were announced, and when statehood was celebrated or contested.
The photographs serve as primary historical documents, offering insight into public ritual, authority, crowd formation, spatial politics, and the visual culture of civic life in Georgia.
