Portrait of Georgian scientist and academician Aleksandre Didebulidze (1882–1951).

Portrait of Aleksandre Didebulidze (1882–1951), a Georgian scientist and academician whose work contributed to the development of geophysics and scientific photography in Georgia. Didebulidze studied at the Riga Polytechnic Institute, graduating in 1911. In 1919 he was invited to Tbilisi University to help organize the Faculty of Physics and later participated in the creation of the university’s agronomic faculty together with Petre Melikishvili. He served as director of the Geophysical Observatory and organized scientific expeditions to Mount Kazbegi for geophysical research of the Caucasus Mountains. Didebulidze also worked on photographic theory and practice, developing methods related to optical stabilization of photographic emulsions and using photography for scientific research, including the recording and study of manuscripts.
