This photograph shows the obverse and reverse sides of a gold medal awarded at the Caucasus Photographic Exhibition held in Tiflis in 1897. The medal features decorative ornamentation and inscriptions referencing the photographic exhibition.

Such medals were awarded by the exhibition jury to participants whose works demonstrated outstanding technical or artistic achievement. The exhibition represented one of the most important photographic events in the Caucasus during the late nineteenth century.
