This photograph documents a display of photographic works at the Caucasus Photographic Exhibition held in Tiflis in 1897. Numerous photographs of varying formats are arranged on a large exhibition panel, illustrating how photographic prints were presented to the public at late nineteenth-century exhibitions.

The exhibition was organized during a period of rapid development in photography in the Russian Empire and the Caucasus, when photographic societies and amateur photographers increasingly organized public exhibitions to showcase technical and artistic achievements.
