This stereoscopic photograph shows Abano Street in Tiflis (modern Tbilisi) in 1897. The image captures a lively urban scene with pedestrians walking along the street, horse-drawn carriages, and traditional buildings with projecting wooden balconies typical of the historic districts of the city.

The photograph was taken by Aleksandre Mamatsashvili and produced as a stereoscopic image, a popular photographic format of the nineteenth century that created the illusion of depth when viewed through a stereoscope. Such images were widely used to present urban landscapes and travel scenes.

The photograph documents everyday life in one of the most characteristic parts of old Tiflis, known for its narrow streets, wooden balconies, and active commercial life.
